Show Us Your Moves: KittyCat as Rapunzel

KittyCat sent us a Show Us Your Moves submission of her Rapunzel cosplay from Disney’s Tangled! She used our  Asteria Wig in Caramel Blonde for the super long wig that she needed for this costume! Check out pictures and her story below!

Hi! This is my submission for the cosplay contest.

My cosplay in the image (attached) Is Rapunzel from the Disney movie “Tangled” (2010).

After seeing the movie, I immediately fell in love with it and I knew that I wanted to cosplay as Rapunzel. Now, as well as it being a cosplay, I use the costume to entertain at kid’s birthday parties.

This costume was my first cosplay ever. I began working on it shortly after the movie came out, and finished it about a year later. I think that the hardest part of this cosplay was the skirt. I hand painted the designs all the way around it (as well as the inside panel) without a stencil or anything. My reference was a doll from the Disney Store. It certainly took a lot of hard work, but it was worth it in the end.

Cosplaying is very special to me because it allows me to be someone else for a change. I love being able to portray the characters that people have created; I attented the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California last year and spoke with one of the creators of Tangled. She told me what a joy it was to see people bringing her character to life. I hope to become an animator myself someday, and I can completely understand what that must mean to her.

In the future, I hope to do many more Disney princess cosplays. The two on the top of my list, however, are Belle and Ariel.
