Here’s one of entries for our Valentine’s Day Couples Contest! Aria and Heath are cosplaying as Princess Serenity and Tuxedo Mask from Sailor Moon. While neither of these cosplayers used our wigs we do have some perfect for these characters! We recommend our Sailor Moon Character Specific Wig for a Sailor Moon cosplay and our Hermes wig in Black for Tuxedo Mask! Look on to see some more about their cosplays!
-What inspired you to do these cosplays?
They were both costumes we each wanted to do…after we had became a couple.
-What got you into cosplay?
I can only give my part of the story in any type of detail. It started with my first cosplay as Super Sailor Moon. I didn’t really believe that I would ever do cosplay or attend an anime convention again, so I went all out. I attended the convention with two of my close friends. Neither really loved anime the way I did, but they wanted to support me (not to mention they were afraid for me to go alone). I was worried at first that I wouldn’t do my favorite heroine justice, but all the other convention goers made me feel like I WAS Sailor Moon!
In the mist of all the questions and cameras a Nurse Joy grabs my hand and as she pulls my from the ticket line to the garden. She continues to tell me how she had someone for me to meet, but never would tell me who. Between all the twists and turns in hallways and rounding people I lose sense of direction and my friends.
As we reach the garden area she drops my hand and leaves me in the middle of a huge group. Being disoriented and alone with strangers I start to look around in a panic.
Then, I see a black top hat bobbing in and out the crowd of people and Tuxedo Mask emerges, the first thing he said was, “She’s perfect.” I will never forget that day or his words AND I still remind him to this day.
Heath isn’t the only reason that I really enjoy cosplay but he was a major supported in my new hobby and with his support I continued.
-Why do you love cosplay?
Well I love it for several reasons. I feel like it is the ultimate way for me to express my admiration for a character and presents challenges for me to overcome in creating the costume and accessories. It has also influenced my student experience, I am working on my M.A. in New Media Studios with a concentration in costume enhancement with technology. This has only made me love it even more.
